Earthquake of magnitude 5.9 hits Russia’s Kuril Islands – EMSC

An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 hit Russia’s Kuril Islands on Tuesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

The quake was at a depth of 12 kms from the epicenter, as stated by the EMSC.

Kuril island is the region which is claimed by both Russia and Japan, but is presently under Russian administration.
