The Mumbai magistrate court on Tuesday rejected the Enforcement Directorate’s application to question dismissed Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze for two hours in connection with a money laundering
The agency’s Assistant Director Tassine Sultan had filed the application stating that it was imperative for the agency to record the statement of Vaze as early as possible to “make him confront with the documents/evidences collected during the course of investigation and statements of various accused/persons recorded and expedite the case to take it to its logical conclusion.”
“The accused being a key conspirator, his recording of the statement is need of the hour,” read the application.
Vaze is currently in the custody of the Maharashtra CID, which is investigating all the extortion cases registered against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and his associates. Singh is not traceable at the moment but the CID has arrested various people in all the different cases that they are investigating. Vaze was one of the accused in the case that had been registered with the Goregaon police station. CID has his custody till November 13.
