President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday accorded Maha Vir Chakra to Colonel Santosh Babu posthumously for resisting Chinese Army attack while establishing an observation post in the face of the enemy in the Galwan valley, Ladakh during Operation Snow Leopard. His mother and wife received the award from the President. Notably, Maha Vir Chakra is the second-highest wartime gallantry medal.
