PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh, which is a major pilgrimage centre for Buddhism followers. The airport was built at an estimated cost of ₹260 crore. An inaugural flight from Colombo carrying a Sri Lankan delegation of over 100 people, including Buddhist monks and five ministers, and holy Buddha relics landed in Kushinagar.
