Google calls EU’s $5 bn antitrust fine ‘inappropriate’, asks for reduction

Google has urged EU judges to reduce or cancel the “staggering” $5 billion antitrust fine related to its Android phone software, imposed on it in 2018, calling it inappropriate. Google said it “could not have known its conduct was an abuse” when it struck contracts with Android mobile phone makers that required them to take its search and web-browser apps.
