COVID-19 may have killed between 80,000 and 1,80,000 healthcare workers between January 2020 and May 2021, the WHO said. Healthcare workers must be prioritised for vaccines, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, and criticised unfair shots distribution. He added, less than one in 10 healthcare workers are fully vaccinated in Africa compared to eight in 10 in most high-income countries.
.@WHO estimates that 115,000 #healthworkers may have died from #COVID19 as of May 2021. This is why it’s essential that health workers are prioritised for vaccination. Together with partners, we urge all countries to protect & #SupportHealthCareWorkers!https://t.co/Ghcc3Zxsqo https://t.co/hAMflRRXqy
