India’s coal stock lowest in years; ‘crisis may go on for 6 months’, says govt

India’s power stations reportedly had an average of four days’ worth of coal stock at September-end, with reserves of the fuel running lowest in years. Power Minister RK Singh told the Indian Express, “I don’t know whether I’ll be comfortable in the next five to six months.” Coal-fired power stations account for nearly 70% of electricity generation in India.
